Nintendo will release a 5-disc limited-edition Breath of the Wild soundtrack


The Nintendo Switch and one of its flagship games, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild turned one year old this weekend. To commemorate the occasion, Nintendo announced (via GameStop) a five-disc, limited edition soundtrack containing hundreds of tracks used in the game. Unfortunately, it’ll only be available in Japan, and it’s pretty expensive.

The company has already released a soundtrack for the game, bundling a “Sound Selections” CD with the Master and Special editions, but this new offering goes far beyond that single disc: the five-disc boxed set will contain each one of the Manaka Kataoka’s 211 music tracks used in the game, as well as the tracks from the game’s DLC packs, and the music featured in the game’s launch trailers.

Nintendo will release two versions: a ¥ 7,000 (around $1103) initial limited edition, which includes a promotional button with a built-in music player (with 15 tracks pre-loaded), and a ¥ 5,000 (around $787) normal edition. The soundtrack will go on sale on April 25th, 2018 in Japan.

That’s a hefty price to pay, but after playing the game for hundreds of hours in the last year, and listening to the “Sound Selections” soundtrack, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least somewhat tempted. The game has impressive gameplay, visual design, and graphics, but the soundtrack is an integral part of the experience, and it’s beautifully done

Yucatan is the neo-Mexican space punk racer you've been waiting for

It's really been far too long since we last saw a neo-Mexican space punk racing game, hasn't it? I've certainly been waiting a fair while for one, which makes the arrival of Yucatan's demo earlier this month such a pleasant surprise; this ticks all the right boxes. The work of developer Joe Bain - with a little help from his friends - Yucatan plays like a tequilla-soaked Trackmania (and there's probably a fair dose of peyote included in that cocktail, too), a psychedelic racer that pits your gloriously proportioned ride against a series of impossibly cruel tracks. Rare Studio Head on Sea of Thieves Post-Launch Plans

Rare has high hopes for Sea of Thieves, and according to studio head Craig Duncan, the development team intends to continue to support the game post-launch to make it "as big and successful as it can be." On the latest episode of our monthly interview show  IGN Unfiltered , Duncan said the studio "of course" has a roadmap and plan for the future of Sea of Thieves. "There's more stuff we want to add to Sea of Thieves," Duncan said, noting the team "definitely want to be reactive" to fixing any balancing issues and bugs that might arise. "Every single person I've talked to that launched a service-based game tells me, 'Hey, you think you know what you've gotta do—actually when you launch there'll be a load of different stuff,'" he explained, noting he's well aware there will probably be plenty of stuff the team wasn't aware of prior to release that they'll need to address after launch.
